Thank you for your interest in Paxton's rich history. This page is maintained by the Paxton Chamber of Commerce. To learn more about the 24 selected historic sites around our community, you can either browse this website or preferably visit the site in person and, using the camera on your phone, scan the QR code, which will be displayed at most sites. Each QR code link will bring up a brief history of the site and several pictures. Our goal is to continue to improve this project by adding more historic sites, pictures and information.

Farmers-Merchants Bank
The Farmers-Merchants Bank of Paxton was founded on March 14, 1914, by E. D. Given with total assets at that time were $26,857.80.
Following is a slate of the officers and directors in 1914: E. D. Given, President; H. E. Duffield, Cashier; E. E. Hester; W. E. Kenney; William Perdue, Vice President; Philip J. Larson; Alfred Lindquist.
On April 7, 1942, the bank was converted into a national bank and the name changed to Farmers-Merchants National Bank of Paxton.
In August of 1960, the interior of the bank was completely remodeled, and installed a Walk-up Window to accommodate customers after regular business hours.
In 1963, the bank's assets totaled $5,122,225.99, and the following officers served: Carl C. Shebly, President; W. F. Judkins, Chairman of the Board; Ralph R. Hudachek, Exec. Vice President and Cashier; W. R. Watts, Vice President; Leonard Lindquist, Vice President; Lorene Ostrom, Assistant Cashier; Verna Shilts, Assistant Cashier; Nettie Taylor, Assistant Cashier.
In 1972 the bank moved to its present location on the corner of Pells & Taft. Since the bank moved, this location has been used as a Deli and currently the Chinese restaurant.
